We decided to take Cameron out of the house for a picnic at Clark's Hill Lake. It was a beautiful day, and it would do us all some good to get out in the sunshine! The lake has special meaning for us. It is where we got engaged as well as where we spent much of our time dating since Casey lived there. We loaded up all of our baby gear, stopped by and got lunch at Subway and headed out. It was a really fun time. Cameron slept through most of the experience, but woke up towards the end. Needless to say he was suprised to find a huge, bright world outside of our house. The picture captures it all. It is both hillarious and priceless!

April 29, 2008
Well we have had several firsts up to this point. We have given our first bath, changed our first poopie diaper, pulled our first all nighter, and none of these will be the last. However, I honestly never had any idea I could love something like I love this little baby. Casey says all the time how amazing it is to become so immediately attached to someone, and he has has us moving at his every cry. He doesn't like his bath or his diaper being changed. He screams through both of them. He is a good eater and as of now, he only sleeps while being held. This creates a problem since this means he has to be held all the time. Right now we are taking turns and the other will sleep. I don't know how long we can keep this up, but we will do whatever it takes to keep the little man happy! We have been blessed to have many visitors from our families come to see us and help out. They have brought food and allowed us to catch a few quick naps. We REALLY appreciate this and are thankful to have such supportive families.

We welcome Cameron...
After many months of anticipation and excitement and eventually many hours of labor our sweet boy FINALLY made his appearance (with the help of a c-section). He weighed 8 pounds and 2 ounces and was 21 inches long. All I can remember from my c-section was everyone saying he was a big boy. He doesn't seem that big to us. In fact he seems little and fragile and so so perfect! We had quite a time at the hospital. We ended up going to labor and delivery on April 20th at about 1 in the morning. I was feeling funny, had a headache, and since I had been on bedrest due to swelling and high blood pressure I decided to check my blood pressure. It was the highest it had been, and so we went to the hospital. They then told us I was there to stay, and they would probably induce on Sunday or Monday. This was a shock to both Casey and me. I expected them to monitor me and then send me home. Well to make a long story short, this was the first of many complications. They began my labor early Monday morning. Cameron's heart rate began to drop so I spent most of the time on oxygen. They broke my water early Tuesday morning (around 2 am) to speed up the process. Although the water was clear, they later found meconium which could be a potential problem if Cameron breathed it in once he was born. If this was not enough drama, my platelet count got dangerously low and they feared I would have trouble with my blood clotting once I delivered Cameron. This with my high blood pressure and increased swelling was a big concern. After 27 hours of labor I had only dilated to a 4 and Cam was showing more signs of distress, so we had a c-section. After many prayers and a few tense and stressful hours, we had our beautiful perfect little boy. We both did great and came out healthy.
